Indication
PRO-VET® OrthoDent complete and balanced dry diet food for dogs of all breeds and ages for oral hygiene, for the prevention of oral diseases (dental plaque, dental calculus and gingivitis) or for dogs with a tendency to develop them.
PRO-VET® OrthoDent has been specifically formulated to prevent and treat oral diseases – dental plaque, dental calculus and gingivitis. All dogs showed evidence of dental plaque, calculus, or gingivitis. Tragically, the unbelievable happens all too often. The mission of PRO-VET® OrthoDent is to avoid that your pet does not travel down this painful path.
Keep in mind that periodontal disease refers to the condition of the gingival tissue (gums). Plaque and calculus are the supragingival and subgingival (above & below the gum line) buildup on the surfaces of the teeth. They can be present in many different combinations and degrees. All of these factors play a role in the advancement of periodontal disease.
Calculus levels do not determine the stage of periodontal disease. While periodontal disease is frequently accompanied by heavy calculus, any level of calculus can be present in a mouth with little to no periodontal disease. Conversely, periodontal disease can be present in mild to advanced stages without the presence of heavy calculus. Also a mouth can have a consistent stage of periodontal disease throughout or there can be localized areas that are in a more advanced state than the rest of the mouth.
This can make the task of visually identifying the degree of dental disease difficult since the most obvious factor is the calculus accumulation. The photos here depict examples of the various dental disease.
Efficacy
CHARACTERISTIC | EFFECT |
Teeth Cleaning System | Elastic, non-crumbling kibble removes and diminishes the formation of dental plaque. Reduces calculus and gingivitis. Has a beneficial effect on oral health. |
Anti-Bacterial Agents Mixture | Reduces proliferation of oral bacteria and decreases the severity of dental plaque and calculus formation. Contributes to masking bad breath and specific inhibition of bacterial production of sulfonated volatile fatty acids. |
Anti-Calculus Formula | Forms soluble complexes with calcium ions in the oral fluid so that the calcium becomes unavailable for precipitation in dental plaque and formation of calculus. |
Green Tea Extract | Contains polyphenols compound that consist of epigallocacethin gallate (EGCg). Tea polyphenols provide an anti-bacteria effect and diminished significantly the symptoms of induced teeth plaques. |
Rich in Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids of the Omega-3 Family (EPA+DHA) | Stimulation of immune function. Improvement of condition of skin in atopic disease. Diminishes risk of cancer, kidney failure and osteoarthritis. |
Rich in Natural Antioxidants | Reduces risk of cancer and renal insufficiency. |
Rich in Fibres with High Viscosity (FHV) | Decreases risk of diabetes mellitus. Stimulates gut motility and advancement of faeces consistency. |
Rich in Fibres with Low Viscosity (FLV) | Stimulates gut motility. |
Digestive Health added prebiotics: Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) | Supports the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine. Encourages peristaltic motion, exerting a positive influence on bowel activity and evacuation. |

Storage
While dry food will not spoil as rapidly as other types of food, it does not last indefinitely. Always make sure that you use such foods before the expiration date. Keep the food dry and store it inside the bag it came in; we design the bags to resist moisture and airflow. The best way to store a large bag of dog or cat food is to place the original bag inside a clean plastic pail or container with a secure lid. Do not store dry food in humid rooms, as damp conditions will accelerate spoiling. Always roll the top of the bag down tightly and cinch it closed with a clip. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that pet owners keep dry foods and treats in locations that do not exceed 23 °C (degrees Calsius) or 74 °F (degrees Fahrenheit).
A healthy dog is a happy dog.
